Nearest airport: Faro at a distance of about 40 km from Cabanas. From the airport the possibility of transport by taxi or pick up car hired separately in selected company.

Cabanas is situated at the beginning of the lagoons of the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve, a distance of about 7 km east of the charming town of Tavira. Along the length of lagoon runs the main street with wooden promenade and numerous cafes and restaurants with tables outside where you can enjoy the views of the lagoon. The view across the calm, crystal clear waters of the lagoon to the beach with brightly coloured fishing boats along the watres edge is a picturesque and calming. Along the side streets of Cabanas are situated the fishing houses creating original atmosphere remained of the former fishing village.

Cabanas has all the facilities you need on holiday. There are a couple of banks, a market and several small shops, agencies for rent a car and bike, an agency for excursion along nature reserve or the ocean.

Sandy and extensive beach of Ilha de Cabanas is just a short taxi boat trip across the waters of the lagoon, on the other side. The water taxis also go to the town of Tavira, the beach of Ilha de Tavira and the fishing village of Santa Luzia, called the capital of octopuses.
